The Critical Care and Emergency Services Nurse Credentialing Program at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center recognizes that nurses achieve and maintain competency in acute care advanced skills in various ways. This program provides the framework for the collection and verification of credentials; documents such as degree, licensure, certification, education and competency validation tools. Competency validation tools are used at the unit level and are validated by a mentor on the date that the competency is performed. All competencies within the Credentialing Program have written competency statements and requirements, defined prerequisite skills and measurable performance elements. Validation tools (checklists) and mentor resource guidelines are included where appropriate.
